Happy  Chinese New Year!

This term our learning Journey is all about food. If you have not informed the School of any food allergies that your child has, please would you let us know, as we will be tasting different foods.

We have been focusing on food from around the world. We have looked at where our food comes from and where those countries are on our globe. We have also been looking at fruit and vegetables. We have be sorted them according to colour and group.We have focused on food in fairy-tales and nursery rhymes, for example Hansel and Gretel. We had our ’party picnic’ in the classroom. The theme will be the story of Hansel and Gretel.We have been reading the story and retelling it in our own words. We made honey sandwiches for the picnic and  everyone helped decorate the ’Hansel and Gretel’ house. 

We are now focusing on our favourite food. Please can you bring in the packaging from your favourite food, as will use this to discuss our choice and then we will make some junk models out of it.

Next week we will be focusing on food for special occasions. These will include Chinese New Year, Birthdays, Christenings etc.
